Music -- Staind: V
|
Some might say Staind has lost their edge. If you have noticed they have started to get calmer as the years go by. I say good for them.. if Aaron Lewis wants to continue pouring his heart out about life experiences then it has to be this way. I have learned as you get older you do start to mellow out..I think the birth of his girl and putting his past where it belongs has changed his outlook and the cool thing is you can see the therapy session thru his music.
That being said the new album is to me a combo of Dysfunctional, Break the Cycle, and 14 Shades of Grey. I loved Staind's debut and thought it fit well however I actually still stand by Break the Cycle being my favorite with 14 Shades of Grey being my least. V comes in second as far as I'm concerned.
Aaron has really tried to change his vocals up and show his range more instead of keeping the same pitches. I really enjoyed listening to him do this and give him props for trying to become a better singer. The songs are a mix of a few hard and soft songs. I can say every song on the CD I have enjoyed so far. Even when he trys to complain about his past life some . I can't say what is my favorite tracks yet are because it takes me a few months to really get a feel for what a song is about and to decide if I really do love it. However, "Devil" and "Paper Jesus" really have stood out as great songs to me thus far.
Overall a great CD and if your a Staind fan don't miss out. Just realize it is true this isn't the Staind you knew before but the Staind that is growing up and getting older....
