Music -- Reel Big Fish: We're not happy 'til you're not happy
Reel Big Fish, the band most well known for thought provoking songs that have puzzled the minds of philosophers the world over such as, "Beer" and "Everything Sucks," is back and ready to once again prove self mockery can work in music just as well as it works in standup comedy.

RBF is at it again and perhaps more juvenile than ever. Get a load of some of the lyrics from another soon to be college frat favorite, "Drinkin'" - I guess I shouldn't feel too bad, ain't got much reason to feel so sad except that I'm poor, untalented, and ugly.... Follow that song up with "Don't Start a Band" and other tracks like "Your Guts (I Hate 'Em)" and you've got a good feel for what RBF is all about.

The lyrics in this go around may be the best yet. How many rock/ska albums have you ever listened to and actually broke out laughing? At times I think they'd almost be better off marketing this one as a comedy album. However, the core sound to Reel Big Fish has been altered a bit and I'm not sure its for the better. The horns are back and just as potent as ever, and the guitar riffs take a back seat for the first time since their debut, but the vocals from Aaron seem to be spat out at a hectic pace rather than as part of the groove, and forget any harmony when backup vocals from Scott kick in. It relates a little more to the energy and craziness of their live shows, but just doesn't quite work throughout this album.

Not all is lost however, as classic RBF fans will love the reggae grovin', "Talkin' bout a Revolution" and "You're Guts (I Hate 'Em)" which sounds like it was ripped right out of Turn the Radio Off. Plus some of the new feel tunes, like "Drinkin'" and "Say Goodbye" do end up working out well. Overall its not a bad effort from the Fish and you're sure to get a kick out of it, but it fails to live up to their classics, Turn the Radio Off and Why do they Rock so Hard.
